NEWS: DLC Cancelled For Wii U Verson of Arkham Origins

Players expecting more content will be disappointed as Nintendo has pulled the DLC from development.

The news originally came from a message sent to those who purchased season passes for the Wii U release of Arkham Origins, which stated the reasoning behind the decision to stop development of DLC content.

"Thanks so much for your support of Batman: Arkham Origins on Wii U.
We are contacting you today because you purchased the Batman: Arkham Origins Season Pass for Wii U. We hope you've been enjoying the content that has been delivered thus far. Based on demand for Downloadable Content on the system, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has made the decision to remove its offering of the upcoming new story campaign for Wii U.
As a result, we will be crediting the entire $19.99+tax cost of the Season Pass back to your Nintendo eShop account. You will still be able to enjoy the content already released thus far.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your support of the game.
Sincerely, Nintendo of America Inc."

There is no indication of the Xbox 360 or PS3 versions to be affected and since only Wii U players received the news, it can be safe to assume any DLC plans for other versions will still be developed.

REVIEW: The Walking Dead Season 1

Through a series of unimaginable events, this game will really test your decision making for the good or worse.

Developer: Telltale Games | Publisher: Telltale Games | Genre: Point N Click Adventure

PS3 | PS4 | PS Vita Xbox 360 | Xbox One | Windows PC | Mac  | iOS | Kindle Fire HDX | Android

Combining an excellent narrative with some pretty tough decisions that play on the harshest of human emotion, Telltale games have created something truly unique and enticing.

Even if you're not into The Walking Dead franchise, this game is still definitely worth playing through at least once - it manages to draw you into the narrative with full force and truly gives you an idea of what it would be like to live in a Zombie apocalypse and the very particular decisions you as a person would have to make in order to survive, protect your friends, and avoid being eaten to death. REVIEW1

You take the role of Lee Everett who is actually on his way to jail after conviction through the Atlanta, Georgia authorities - its on this little road trip we see glimpses of something sinister going off, whether it be the subtle hints such as Helicopters flying past rapidly or the swarm of Police forces racing the other way. Eventually, the Sheriff crashes his car into a Walker causing the game to really begin - from then on, its up to you to make sense of the new world and simply survive.

There are a total of 5 episodes in season 1, which are styled much like the TV show itself as well as taking graphical influences from the original comic book series - each character, environment, and setting are true to the imagery seen in the comics which makes you truly feel you're in the game itself - we don't see this style in many games but when we do, it's usually very well done and Telltale Games did a fantastic job of achieving a unique atmosphere and overall look through this art style.

Throughout the game, you are proposed with numerous questions which will really make you think - what would be best for me? What would be best for the group as a whole? And so on, most decisions affect the final outcome in certain scenarios, which makes for massive replay value, especially if you're deeply into the narrative and want to view all possible situations.

Finding examples without spoilers is definitely difficult, but there is one part in which you must choose which character can survive and which can't as you only have time to save one person, and with the added timer you are put under even more pressure, making for often rash decisions which you could even regret further down the line.

Whether you're playing on a PC or console, the control scheme is very user friendly - there is a cursor which has different actions assigned to a certain button, which can change depending where you hover the cursor, for example if you're examining a corpse, one button might give you the option to search further, whilst the other will simply take a better look and will describe the certain thing or object in detail.

At its core, the game relies on your decisions and your reactions to particular events, however there's a sense of puzzle solving too as a lot of moments in the game does require some genuine brain work - for example you could be searching for a specific item that is inaccessible due to a horde of Walkers blocking the way, so it would become your goal to work around that. It's gameplay like this that goes back to games such as Broken Sword or Monkey Island, which are not bad influences at all.

The Walking Dead Season 1 will more than likely be most enjoyed by fans of the series, but anyone can get into it and have a blast playing through each episode - it's recommended to play the series more than once and choosing different decisions each time to really get your money's worth. An excellent game to play whilst you're waiting for that next episode of the actual TV show.

REVIEW: Guacamelee!

This game will take you through a whirlwind of Mexican wrestlers, huge chickens, goat men, and that's just the start.

Developer: Drinkbox Studios | Publisher: Drinkbox Studios| Genre: Platformer / 2D

PS3 | PS Vita | Windows PC | Mac OS X | Linux

DrinkBox Studios have gone all out in their latest title, offering players addictive and genuienly well-thought out gameplay, although it could've been a lot longer.

Guacamelee! puts you in the shoes of Juan Aguacate - your run of the mill Mexican farmer who's trying to make a living the best he can, that's until the president's daughter is kidnapped, in which it becomes Juan's mission to save her using his newly acquired Luchador (or Mexican wrestler if you will) skills. In other words, you're given a special mask that grants you various abilities that see you fit to be the next Knight in shining armour so to speak.

The first thing sure to get your attention are the graphics - the artist(s) did an excellent job on perfecting that sharp looking cartoon imagery, which not only is a treat for the eyes but will more than likely make you want to delve further into the game. Each area is distinguished by a certain look, whether it be the gloomy dark temples or the roasting hot desert landscapes, and its things like this that show the sheer amount of thought and effort put into the game.

All of the game is 2D and utilizes that perfectly with the use of environments and obstacles suited to those retro ideologies, once again proving you don't need fancy graphics or gameplay to make a good game - Guacamelee! is definitely one of those titles that feels like you're back playing NES, but with a modern twist and overall feel which most gamers will welcome with open arms.

Once you're free to explore the world, you can either pursue the main objective or seek out sidequests to get a wider experience of what the game has to offer - this is recommended as you'll encounter more items and cash. However, not everywhere is instantly accessible - much like Symphony of the Night, certain areas can only be entered upon obtaining the appropriate skill, this makes for replayability as you'll more than likely find yourself going back to areas previously locked.

There are a healthy amount of enemies to keep you busy and often will truly test your knowledge of your current skill set - skills involve typical wrestling moves such as the Suplex, however there are more 'magical' abilities that allow you to really pack a punch into the enemy, as well as opening certain areas of the maps. Some enemies can only be killed through very particular abilities, for example if an enemy is surrounded with a red glow/shield, they can only be defeated through the uppercut move - some areas of the game throw all sorts of enemies at you which will actually make you think of what to do instead of mindless button mashing.

For the most part, the quests are actually very entertaining and often funny - one that comes to mind is having to bash a bunch of chickens back into their coop (Zelda?), another example includes having to physically morph into a chicken yourself, yes there's a lot of chicken action in this game, but it's all good fun and reminds you games don't have to be overly serious to enjoy. REVIEW1

Overall, Guacamelee! will keep you entertained long enough to make you want more, however the only real downfall lies in its length - its way too short and could have done with more quests and a few more areas. But as a whole, the game is a lot of fun and is a brilliant portrayal of retro influences in contemporary gaming.
