NEWS: Nintendo Won't Appear At PAX East 2014

Nintendo has announced they will not be attending this year's event.

Since the first Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) East event in 2010, Nintendo has always been around, often showing off promising titles such as Pikmin 3 and The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD - however, this year will tell a very different story.

Speaking with Polygon, a Nintendo spokesperson has said:

"Interacting directly with our fans and letting them play our games firsthand is a key component of our approach."

"That doesn't include PAX East this year, but we will offer our fans a variety of opportunities to get their hands on Nintendo products in 2014."

Sony will not be attending this year's event either, however other big companies including Microsoft, Square Enix, Blizzard, 2K Games, Double Fine, Twitch, Oculus VR, and Ubisoft are to make an appearance showing off their respective products.

NEWS: Ubisoft Discuss Watch Dogs On Wii U

Those planning on purchasing the Wii U version of Watch Dogs can get reassurance Ubisoft have not forgotten about it.

Speaking with Polygon, Dominic Guay, senior producer of Watch Dogs, has spoke about the eventual release of a Wii U version of the game, by saying:

"Yeah it's still alive", going on to say "we still haven't defined a ship date for it, though. So it's on hold, to a certain extent for shipping."

Guay explains how the studio is still working out ways to make the game unique to the console and its capabilities:

"We have our studio in Bucharest working on it, and we wanted that team to have the time to explore the GamePad and be able to have fun with it and see how far they could push it."

"It's also an interesting platform, because it has its own strength, which we want to take advantage of, and we didn't want to delay all the other platforms for that one. So we're going to take the time we need to make sure the game is good (technically) when we ship it and that t also, game-design wise, makes good use of the specifics of the Wii U."
Finally, Guay speaks on how the studio in Bucharest are the ideal group to work on the Wii U version:
"They were the perfect team to do it. Our Bucharest studio is super strong, super strong engineers and I was impressed by how quickly they got to get the game running on the console. And they were so autonomous in doing it. Obviously we're communicating and we're working together, but they were so quick and smart in doing it, it still made sense for them to keep ownership. Obviously they're using the same game content, so they're not building other game content. It's the same game content that we'll adapt for the needs of the specific needs of Wii U. But at the core, same game, but they made all the technical adjustments for it."

PREVIEW: Mario Kart 8 - Glimpse Into New Race Courses

Nintendo has revealed three completely new tracks to compete in.

Through the official Twitter of Nintendo UK, images of three new courses have emerged, showing off the vibrant and eye-candy visuals players have become accustomed to throughout the series.

Mario Circuit

One of the smaller tracks featuring long corners and close-quarters, which should encourage hectic gameplay with the aid of the game's various power-ups and weapons. Surrounded with greenland and rugged cliffs, the most noticeable environmental enhancement would be Princess Peach's very own castle.

Sweet Sweet Canyon

Willy Wonka invades the world of Mario Kart - complete with windmills made from candy and various sugary treats surrounding the course, players shouldn't be fooled as a Pirahna Plant could interrupt that first place position at a moments notice.

Thwomp's Ruins

One of the more sinister tracks features lots of Thwomp enemies, who have a tendency of squishing any racer daring to ride under them - we also see multiple options in traversing the track, making for interesting and competitive gameplay. preview1

Mario Kart 8 is to hit shelves exclusively for Wii U on May 30 in Europe and North America, whilst Japan gains the earliest access of May 29.

Originally brought to the battle in Super Smash Bros. Brawl on the Wii, Diddy Kong had the ability to cling onto walls as well as being able to maneuver around the arenas through his lightweight exterior and speedy attributes.

NEWS: Poster Suggests New Sonic Game In 2015

A new Sonic game will release in 2015 on Xbox One, PS4, and Wii U according to German toy convention.

Toy company Jazwares who are responsible for releasing various Sonic toy ranges has displayed a poster at a convention in Germany which details a number of Sonic games - some already out such as Sonic: Lost World and Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games.

But the most significant piece of information shown is that a new title is to be released in 2015 with no specific date or further information as of yet.

With the recent partnership Nintendo made with Sega, we already know there's to be at least one more title released on either the 3DS or Wii U (or both) as this was part of the agreement by both companies.

A good guess for the 2015 release could be Sonic Generations 2 or even Sonic the Hedgehog 5. See the mentioned poster below.
