NEWS: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Delayed Until 2015

CD Projekt RED's much anticipated game; The Witcher 3, has been delayed.

An open letter sent by developer CD Projekt RED has detailed the decision to postpone the game's release, which will now be sometime in February 2015 - no specific date was mentioned.

It seems the primary reason is that the developer wants to create a product that meets high quality standards, which might not be achieved if it is released sooner rather than later:

"We recent reexamined what we had achieved thus far, and faced a choice about the game's final release date. The decision we made was difficult, thoroughly considered, and ultimately clear and obvious. We could have released the game towards the end of this year as we had initially planned. Yet we concluded that a few additional months will let us achieve the quality that will satisfy us, the quality gamers expect from us. Consequently, we have set the release of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt for February 2015.

A separate note specifically for gamers to read contains an apology for the delay:

"Dear gamers - we know many of you would have liked to play The Witcher 3 sooner, as soon as possible, even. We're sorry to make you wait longer than you, or we, initially assumed you would. At the same time, we believe the game will prove to be worth the wait and meet the expectations you have of us. We believe The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be an exceptional RPG, one of the best, providing many hours of wonderful entertainment."

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be available on Xbox One, PS4, and Windows.

NEWS: Price Reduced For MGS V: Ground Zeroes

Physical releases of the game has had price drops applied ahead of its release next month.

The physical release of the game had originally been priced up at £39.99 / $39.99 / €39.99 on both the PS4 and Xbox One, the same price as the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions. Now, all copies will cost £29.99 / $29.99 / €29.99, whilst the digital download is still priced at £19.99 / $19.99 / €19.99.

Ground Zeroes is the prologue The Phantom Pain, offering players an insight into the narrative between both events - in other MGS V news, Konami has revealed exclusive benefits of purchasing Ground Zeroes during its first phase of release, read more HERE.

Ground Zeroes will release March 18, with the PS3 and PS4 versions containing an exclusive Déjà Vu mission, featuring the classic Solid Snake from the 1998 PlayStation release. Xbox 360 and Xbox One players are to have access to another exclusive mission titled Jamais Vu, this time the cyborg ninja Raiden is to be the center of attention.

NEWS: Daylight Confirmed For PS4 and PC

Zombie Studios' survival-horror will be making its way to PS4 and PC in April 2014.

Through a short video posted over at IGN, it has been revealed Daylight is to have both a PS4 and PC release set for April - however, no specific day was given.

Daylight puts players in the first-person perspective, whilst combining elements of the survival-horror genre, allowing the player to truly immerse themself in this horrifying experience.

NEWS: The Evil Within Release Date Revealed

The highly anticipated survival-horror is to hit shelves this August.

Bethesda has given The Evil Within a release date of August 26 in North America and August 29 in Europe - the game will be Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami's most recent horror game, promising some intense horrific gameplay, complete with a dark narrative and many forms of monsters to deal with.

Players will take control of Detective Sebastian Castellanos, who is brought to the scene of a mass murder taking place at an asylum, however upon arriving he loses consciousness and awakes in a gritty envrionment filled with gruesome monsters and gallons of blood.

The Evil Within will be available on PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.

NEWS: Child of Light Release Date Announced

Ubisoft's turn-based RPG has been given an April release date.

Only available through digital download, Child of Light is to hit the market April 30 on Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4, Wii U, and PC, which is to be priced at £11.99.

Generally not known for creating RPGs, Ubisoft has definitely gone in a new direction with this upcoming title.

Players will take the role of Aurora who wakes up in the world of Lemuria - upon arriving, it becomes apparent the sun, moon and stars have been stolen by the Black Queen. From then on, it becomes Aurora's mission to bring peace back to the world.

NEWS: New Drakengard 3 Trailer Released

Square Enix has uploaded the latest trailer for its upcoming action J-RPG.

Senior Product Manager Sakura Minamida for Square Enix has posted a new video detailing parts of the game's narrative and characters along with some gameplay players can expect to engage in upon release.

Already on shelves in Japan, Europe will gain access May 21, whilst North America has a date of May 20 - the video's blurb describes the game as a "medieval world where six sisters wield special magical abilities at the "Intoners."

Expect to take part in vast battles with anything ranging from a pack of simple Wolves to a gigantic Dragon, complete with numerous abilities and magic spells. Check out the latest trailer below, which also reveals the English voice acting for the first time.

NEWS: Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes - Spring 2014 Launch

Konami has revealed the highly anticipated MGS5: Ground Zeroes will be available in the spring of 2014.

In the newest blog post from the official Konami website, details have surfaced revealing the game's release date and the initial launch price.

Ground Zeroes is a prologue leading to the events of The Phantom Pain, Konami describe the game as a prologue that "brings all of the hallmarks of the renowned franchise in a concentrated story mode that guides players into the new gameplay mechanics against the backdrop of the expansive Metal Gear Solid universe."

The FOX Engine is being used for both Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain - creator the series Hideo Kojima said:

"The advanced capabilities of the FOX Engine are allowing me to express the story of Metal Gear Solid in a new way. As such, Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes has been designed to introduce key elements, while setting up the events of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain."

The game's retail price has been set at a suggested $29.99, which is around £19 in the UK - however, the digital version will be at a fixed price of $19.99 (approx £12). The game will release nationwide spring 2014, with no specific date revealed, and will be available on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.

PREVIEW: SoulCalibur II HD Online Gameplay

Fresh gameplay shows Raphael and Xianghua battle it out in classic SoulCalibur action.

Fan favourite SoulCalibur II will be re-released in HD with all-new online features, something the original release never had - understandable giving the time.

To give a taste of what the game has to offer, Namco have released a fight between two of the most well-known characters throughout the series; upper class sword-wielding Raphael and another sword-wielding specialist Xianghua.

You might remember exclusive characters being available depending on which version of the original SoulCalibur II you purchased - the PS2 had Heihachi, whilst Xbox got Spawn, both characters will be included in the HD re-release.

Another note - Nintendo's Link appeared in the GameCube version, but as this game will release only for PS3 and X360, don't expect to see him anywhere. The game is slated for an Autumn 2013 release - any time now then.

NEWS: PS4 - Will Cost Over £1,100 in Brazil

Brazilians will have to pay 2,999 Reais to get their hands on the upcoming PS4 console.

The official Brazilian Sony blog has announced that the PlayStation 4 will cost practically 3,000 Reais, which translates to around £1,100 or $1,800, offering no real explanation as to why it will release at such a steep cost:

"Sony Computer Entertainment America announced the price of the PlayStation ® 4 (PS4 ™) (series CUH-1000A): The console will be released in Brazil for R $ 3,999, and the MSRP of games for the console is $ 179. The PS4 ™ will be available from the day November 29, 2013 in major retail stores in Brazil."

Considering the government taxes are extremely high in Brazil, it's no real shock why imported products would retail so high, especially anything within the technology area.

PREVIEW: Drakengard 3 Announced for 2014

The long awaited Drakengard 3 is actually happening - serving as prequel to the original.

Ten years after the release of Drakengard on the PlayStation 2 back in 2003, Sony US have announced that the a third game will be making its way to shelves next year, with no specific date in mind.

Although it's the third in the series, Drakengard 3 will serve as a prequel, offering gameplay and narratives leading up to the original, deeming it ideal for both fans and new-comers.

Sony has said the following:

"Drakengard fans, rejoice! We’re proud to announce that Drakengard 3 is coming to North America next year for PS3.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Drakengard series, and it’s been seven years since the launch of Drakengard 2. Producer Takamasa Shiba is back to bring you along on another incredible and twisted journey.

Never played the original Drakengard? What many people don’t know about Drakengard 3 is that it’s actually a prequel, and leads up to the events of the original Drakengard. So this game is quite perfect for all fans — new and old."

Personally, I love the Drakengard series and have been waiting for this a very long time, and now it's finally happening.

The trailer reveals Zero, the main protagonist in the narrative - possessing incredible sword skills and access to the huge dragon Mikhail's fire-breathing aerial combat skills, she will prove a worthy challenge to any opponent. 

Other characters shown are Five, Four, Three, Two, and One - it's probably safe to say they aren't their real names, but act as code names, rank names, etc.

Considering "pacts" don't yet exist, it will be interesting to see how the narrative plays out, considering the first two games were strongly focused on the character's sacred pacts with their respective dragons.

Whilst the trailer shows no glimpse of actual gameplay, it should be assumed it will contain similar elements from previous games, including both ground and air combat on large-scale maps with RPG elements thrown in.

NEWS: Angry Video Game Nerd Adventures - The "One Word" Trailer

Cinemassacre has uploaded a new trailer for it's upcoming game; Angry Video Game Nerd Adventures, which essentially shows what people think to it in one simple word, or two in some cases, including "amazing", "fantastic", "f--kballs", "challenging", and so fourth.

The best word to describe the game in my opinion was "fard" - meaning fun and hard at the same time, which makes me think the game will be in true AVGN style in terms of difficulty and having that retro 8-bit/16-bit feel.

The game arrives on Steam on 23rd September, with a 10% discount for those who have pre-ordered their copy.

NEWS: Xbox One - 2014 Launch for Japan

It's definitely not looking good for Japan in terms of next-gen consoles, what with the PlayStation 4 being pushed back and now we know the Xbox One won't see the light of day until 2014.

Popular japanese gaming magazine Famitsu reported that the Xbox One will be released in 2014, but no specific date or price ranges were stated, just that a release window has been planned.

Back in July of this year Microsoft did say that the Xbox One would be part of the tier-2 release plan in Japan, so we already knew that the console wouldn't be released at the same time as the UK or North America.

However, this still means more waiting for Japan to get it's hands on the next wave of consoles.

NEWS: PlayStation 4 - Launches December Across Asia (but not Japan...)

Sony Computer Entertainment Japan Asia (SCEJA) revealed at the pre-TGS show that the PlayStation 4 will be released across Asia in December of this year, including Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, and South Korea.

Nothing was said about a specific date or pricing, however SCEJA will be giving further details regarding these issues in November at their local launch event.

So, more places will be getting their hands on the PlayStation 4 before Japan - I still want to know Sony's reasoning behind this. More might be revealed at the Tokyo Game Show, which starts tomorrow.

NEWS: PlayStation 4 - Japanese Release Date Pushed Back

Japan - the origin of all things Sony and PlayStation, will in fact probably be the last country to see the release of the PlayStation 4.

Instead of it's original plan to be released in November, Sony Asia announced at the Tokyo Game Show that the console will instead be releasing February 22nd of 2014.

Why is this? I honestly don't know. It could be that Sony as a whole want to focus their efforts on the North American and European release in terms of maximizing profits, and then dedicate themselves purely on the Japanese release, but like I say - I really don't know why this is.

I'm sure a lot of Japanese gamers are angry about this news, but time will tell why Sony decided to make such a strange decision, especially this close to the original launch date.
