NEWS: Sony Discuss PS2 and PS4 Sales

Hiroshi Kawano has spoke in-depth regarding the PS4 and its ability to match PS2 sales.

Speaking with the Japanese gaming website Inside-Games, president of Sony Computer Entertainment Asia and Japan Hiroshi Kawano explains how the PS4 will continue to sell more units and hopefully even bypass or meet the same sale numbers of the PS2.

Dualshockers translated the interview, which shows Kawano speaking of the disappointing PS3 sales, saying "unfortunately the sales of the PS3 didn't even get near the sales of the PS2. It may be difficult for a home console now, but I think we shouldn't say it's impossible unconditionally."

He goes on to discuss how he believes "it's possible to expand the popularity of the PS4 by providing a rich gaming experience and making use of the fusion of network service and high performance that is possible only on home consoles."

When discussing matching sales of the PS2, Kawano said "we'll have to do our best in the future." - currently, the PS2 has sold the most units with a staggering 155 million and counting since it's initial release in 2000.

NEWS: New Drakengard 3 Trailer Released

Square Enix has uploaded the latest trailer for its upcoming action J-RPG.

Senior Product Manager Sakura Minamida for Square Enix has posted a new video detailing parts of the game's narrative and characters along with some gameplay players can expect to engage in upon release.

Already on shelves in Japan, Europe will gain access May 21, whilst North America has a date of May 20 - the video's blurb describes the game as a "medieval world where six sisters wield special magical abilities at the "Intoners."

Expect to take part in vast battles with anything ranging from a pack of simple Wolves to a gigantic Dragon, complete with numerous abilities and magic spells. Check out the latest trailer below, which also reveals the English voice acting for the first time.

NEWS: Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution Will Include An Impressive Roster

Fans of the Naruto: Ultimate Ninja series can expect an extremely large roster of available fighters.

Revealed recently by Namco Bandai, the latest Naruto game will be available in 2014 on both the Xbox 360 and PS3 in Japan, Europe, and North America.

The game will feature familiar gameplay from previous titles in the franchise, with all-new fighting techniques and a total of 100 playable characters, including a completely new character designed by the Naruto manga creator Masashi Kishimoto himself.

A press release states "the series is reaching a new threshold of playability and perfection: astonishing animation and visual effects, dymanyc ninja-fighting battles and tons of characters! Thanks to the new gameplay mechanics, players will perform Combination Ultimate Jutsu attacks and combine powers to create un-equalled techniques! Topping all those amazing features and ehnancements, gamers will enjoy a roster of 100 playable characters!"

Currently, there are no plans for any Naruto games on the recently released PS4 or Xbox One.

NEWS: Japan's Best Selling Games of 21st Century

Well-known Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu has released a list of the best selling games within the 21st century.

Look at his smug little face.

The list focuses on games released from Jan 1, 2001 - Sep 29, 2013, with Nintendo taking the main stage. New Super Mario Bros. on Nintendo DS takes first place, selling a massive 6,424,000 copies since it's release in 2006, with Pokemon Diamond / Pearl shortly behind with an amount of 5,827,000 copies sold since its 2006 release.

NEWS: PlayStation Vita TV Demonstration

A new video has emerged showing just how the PlayStation Vita will work - understanding Japanese is a bonus.

Sony have released a new video showcasing the recently announced PlayStation Vita TV - the console allows its users to play PSVita games on their TV, along with the streaming of various media content. 

The device can be connected to TV's using either HDMI or AC cables, and will also allow remote play, which enables users to stream PS4 games to a separate TV. 

There will be a combined 1,300 games available from PSVita, PSP, PS1, and PS2, in this particular video we see God Eater 2 and a glimpse of the PS4-exclusive launch title Knack. Whilst there is no confirmation of a Western release, the device remains to be released just in Japan November 14 with an introductory price of  ¥9,480. Check out the demonstration video below.

NEWS: No More Wii Production in Japan

Official Japanese Wii website confirms that the console will no longer be produced throughout Japan.

Releasing back in 2006 (really, that long?...), Nintendo's Wii took the world by storm, offering casual and party-like games for the whole family, with the odd "hardcore" game here and there. Since its release, it has shipped over 100 million units, and sold roughly 873 million games (since June 2013).

Nothing has been mentioned regarding production for the rest of the world, but with Nintendo focusing on the Wii U mainly, it wouldn't be too surprising to see a worldwide end to Wii production.

And now, the console will no longer be produced in Japan according to the official Japanese Wii website - a translation reads "生産終了", meaning "production ended."

PREVIEW: Kingdom Hearts III - D23 Expo Japan 2013 Trailer

Actual gameplay emerges from highly anticipated title Kingdom Hearts III, showing promising gameplay.

It's been almost eight years since the release of Kingdom Hearts II all the way back in 2005 - and since the announcement at this year's E3 confirming the third sequel; Kingdom Hearts III is officially in development, exclusively for PlayStation 4.

This year's D23 Expo in Japan has revealed long-awaited gameplay footage, showcasing Sora, Donald, and Goofy taking on their latest adventure.

The first part of the video shows Sora battling through a horde of Heartless with his trusty Keyblade - nothing we haven't seen in previous games, until something is activated called "Two Shoot Blaster", enabling the player to shoot what looks like balls of fire or some sort of energy, either way this proves effective as it rids the nearby Heartless with ease.

All of a sudden, we see Sora on a pirates ship right on the edge as it sways back and forth, and eventually spinning round and round, all whilst Heartless are trying to get on board - chaotic gameplay like this makes you wonder what else is in store.

The final segment takes place on Big Magic Mountain - which to my knowledge isn't a location that exists in the Disney spectrum, however we see the gang riding a theme-park styled train, using it to battle what looks like one of the first bosses in the game; a massive Heartless enemy which looks intimidating, but also very slow and vulnerable at the same time.

A release date is still unknown, but judging from that gameplay, it can't be too far off now. Watch the trailer below.

NEWS: Xbox One - 2014 Launch for Japan

It's definitely not looking good for Japan in terms of next-gen consoles, what with the PlayStation 4 being pushed back and now we know the Xbox One won't see the light of day until 2014.

Popular japanese gaming magazine Famitsu reported that the Xbox One will be released in 2014, but no specific date or price ranges were stated, just that a release window has been planned.

Back in July of this year Microsoft did say that the Xbox One would be part of the tier-2 release plan in Japan, so we already knew that the console wouldn't be released at the same time as the UK or North America.

However, this still means more waiting for Japan to get it's hands on the next wave of consoles.

NEWS: PlayStation 4 - Japanese Release Date Pushed Back

Japan - the origin of all things Sony and PlayStation, will in fact probably be the last country to see the release of the PlayStation 4.

Instead of it's original plan to be released in November, Sony Asia announced at the Tokyo Game Show that the console will instead be releasing February 22nd of 2014.

Why is this? I honestly don't know. It could be that Sony as a whole want to focus their efforts on the North American and European release in terms of maximizing profits, and then dedicate themselves purely on the Japanese release, but like I say - I really don't know why this is.

I'm sure a lot of Japanese gamers are angry about this news, but time will tell why Sony decided to make such a strange decision, especially this close to the original launch date.
