NEWS: Japan's Best Selling Games of 21st Century

Well-known Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu has released a list of the best selling games within the 21st century.

The list focuses on games released from Jan 1, 2001 - Sep 29, 2013, with Nintendo taking the main stage. New Super Mario Bros. on Nintendo DS takes first place, selling a massive 6,424,000 copies since it's release in 2006, with Pokemon Diamond / Pearl shortly behind with an amount of 5,827,000 copies sold since its 2006 release.

User 'Road' of the NeoGAF forums posted the entire list, also showing the top 3 by system, hardware sales, and the top games of the 20th century. For a quick look at the top 10, check out the list below.

  2. Pokemon Diamond / Pearl - 5,827,000 sold
  3. Pokemon Black / White - 5,489,000 sold
  4. Pokemon Ruby / Sapphire - 5,337,000 sold
  5. Animal Crossing: Wild World - 5,239,000 sold
  6. Brian Age 2: More Training in Minutes a Day - 5,082,000 sold
  7. New Super Mario Bros. Wii - 4,568,000 sold 
  8. Monster Hunter Freedom 3 - 4,503,000 sold
  9. Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies 4,156,000 sold
  10. Mario Kart DS - 4,003,000 sold
