FEATURE: The Games I'm Currently Playing - Volume 6!

Continuing the battle against unfinished games from the past, here's volume 6 of the games I'm currently playing.

Far Cry 3

System: PlayStation 3

This has been on my PS3's hard drive for quite a few months now, and I've since finally got the chance to properly get into it and I'm so glad I did. Initially, I thought this would be a glorified open-world game filled with simple fetch quests, but to my surprise its full of variety and missions that are extremely fun and genuinely enjoyable to do.

It's a bit awkward as I'm in the process of writing a review so I can't actually say too much about what I think of the game as it will be in the upcoming review, but I can safely say this has to be one of the most satisfying game I've played in recent years.

I'm roughly 30% into the overall completion and I often find myself not wanting to come off it, which has lead to numerous late night sessions. Fantastic game - definitely recommend playing it if you haven't already, its really cheap these days, especially pre-owned.

Left 4 Dead 2

System: PC/Steam

I bought this during Steam's Autumn sale that took place last month, I absolutely adored the first Left 4 Dead so at a price of £3.24, I simply had to buy this. To be honest, I'm not sure why I didn't buy it when it originally came out a few years back. Either way, I have it now and it's just an immense amount of fun.

Playing with friends is definitely the best way to fight hordes of blood thirsty Zombies, there's something about playing with the A.I. controlled allies that takes the fun out of it, this is mainly due to the A.I. being incredibly stupid most of the time.

I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of content, included are all the levels from the first Left 4 Dead, bringing back brilliant memories. If you want to play, my Steam account is 'KeyranSolo' - let's kill some Zombies!

System: MegaDrive/Genesis

With Castle of Illusion taking the spotlight back in the 90s, this game was easy to dismiss, and it wasn't until recently I actually discovered this gem through a friend of mine. 

After initially playing, I thought this would be your run of the mill 2D platformer, however there's quite a bit more to it than that - collecting certain items to get into previously locked areas for example.

Its a nice addition and adds a unique sense of gameplay, which might not seem like anything special today but I imagine playing this when it was first released would've been a brilliant experience, so I'm just glad I got my hands on it finally. If you have a MegaDrive/Genesis, you should definitely check this out.

NEWS: Castle of Illusion Remake Available On iOS Devices

The 3D remake has become available on iOS devices through the US Apple store.

Originally released earlier this year in September, the remake of the MegaDrive/Genesis classic; Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse became subject to positive reviews. 

The game is now available on iOS devices and has been optimized especially for iPhone 4S, iPad 2 and anything above that. 

It has been given a retail price of $9.99 and will take up 481MB of storage space. Just like the original narrative, players must navigate various stages in the Castle of Illusion to find Minnie Mouse and rescue her from the grip of an evil witch known as Mizrabel.

PREVIEW: Kingdom Hearts III - D23 Expo Japan 2013 Trailer

Actual gameplay emerges from highly anticipated title Kingdom Hearts III, showing promising gameplay.

It's been almost eight years since the release of Kingdom Hearts II all the way back in 2005 - and since the announcement at this year's E3 confirming the third sequel; Kingdom Hearts III is officially in development, exclusively for PlayStation 4.

This year's D23 Expo in Japan has revealed long-awaited gameplay footage, showcasing Sora, Donald, and Goofy taking on their latest adventure.

The first part of the video shows Sora battling through a horde of Heartless with his trusty Keyblade - nothing we haven't seen in previous games, until something is activated called "Two Shoot Blaster", enabling the player to shoot what looks like balls of fire or some sort of energy, either way this proves effective as it rids the nearby Heartless with ease.

All of a sudden, we see Sora on a pirates ship right on the edge as it sways back and forth, and eventually spinning round and round, all whilst Heartless are trying to get on board - chaotic gameplay like this makes you wonder what else is in store.

The final segment takes place on Big Magic Mountain - which to my knowledge isn't a location that exists in the Disney spectrum, however we see the gang riding a theme-park styled train, using it to battle what looks like one of the first bosses in the game; a massive Heartless enemy which looks intimidating, but also very slow and vulnerable at the same time.

A release date is still unknown, but judging from that gameplay, it can't be too far off now. Watch the trailer below.

NEWS: Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD Remix Announced

Another batch of Kingdom Hearts games make their way into the 2.5 HD Remix collection.

Square Enix released the debut trailer for Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD Remix today, showing off a total of 3 games making their way into the compilation.

With the release of 1.5 HD Remix earlier this year and receiving positive reviews, it makes sense to give fans another batch of the highly popular Disney/Square Enix franchise.

Mat Kishimoto, Associate Product Manager at Square Enix said:

"I’m so excited to be able to see all of these games included as a part of this compilation, but personally, the most exciting title may be Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Final Mix. As many may not have been able to experience its awesomeness, it’s truly one of the more phenomenal games, and now completely rebuilt in HD — you’ll be able to play it on your big-screen TV for the first time."

The package will include:

Kingdom Hearts II: Final Mix - previously only available throughout Japan
Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep - previously only available on PlayStation Portable
Kingdom Hearts Re:coded - previously only available on Nintendo DS

With the release of Kingdom Hearts III....somewhere in the future, players now have the chance to play some of the titles that might have been unavailable previously. The package will be coming to PS3 exclusively worldwide in 2014. Watch the trailer below.
