NEWS: Titanfall's Installation Differences Explained

Publisher Respawn Entertainment has given reasons why the PC version requires much more disc space as opposed to the Xbox One release.

Following the noticeable differences between the Xbox One and PC versions of Titanfall in terms of how much more disc space is needed during the installation, publishers of the game Respawn has spoke with Eurogamer to explain the reasons why the gap is so dramatic.

Xbox One users are required to use up 17GB of space, whilst those playing on PC need to use up a gigantic 49GB of space. It turns out the primary reason is due to audio of all things - lead engineer for Repsawn, Richard Baker, explains:

"We have audio we either download or install from the disc, then we uncompress it. We probably could have had audio decompress off disc but we were a little worried about min spec and the fact that a two-core machine would dedicate a huge chunk of one core to just decompressing audio."

"On a higher PC it wouldn't be an issue. On a medium or moderate PC, it wouldn't be an issue, it's that on a two-core [machine] with where our min spec is, we couldn't dedicate those resources to audio."

Titanfall was released today in North America on Xbox One and PC, whilst Europe has been given a release date of March 13, and will eventually hit shelves March 14 in the UK. The Xbox 360 version will be available March 25 in North America and March 28 throughout Europe.

Players will be able to access the game's multiplayer experience for one week in celebration of its first free map release.

Bart Suichies has posted details on official Killzone website regarding a week's worth online gaming at no extra charge at all. The decision was made to coincide with the release of one of two free to download maps - Suichies said:

"On March 4th, we are making the acclaimed Killzone Shadow Fall multiplayer available for free to all PlayStation 4 players for a week, starting 3rd of March 5PM PST. Best of all, you will not require PS Plus to play the Free Access client this week!"

Last month, the two free downloadable maps were revealed, but no release date was mentioned. Since it's initial release, Suichie says the multiplayer "has been going from strength to strength since its launch, with hundreds of improvements and constant balancing. There have been many new exciting developments including Clans, the First Killzone Invitational tournament, new Weekend Challenges, New Warzone options, expanded Personalisation options, and much more."

With it's release just three days away, Sony have today released the official launch trailer for Quantic Dreams' Beyond Two Souls - containing strong storylines tying in with the idelogies of the afterlife, death, and spiritualism.

Jodie Holmes (Ellen Page) has her life analysed spanning 15 years aged 8 - 23 in order to unravel the mystery of Aiden, a supernatural being that only Holmes can communicate with. It's up to scientist Nathan Hawkins (Willem Dafoe) and his colleagues to make sense of the powers Holmes possesses.

In the trailer, we see Holmes navigating various obstacles, from simple training tasks to avoid being blown up at a gas station - these are just some of things that are expected from the game. See for yourself below, and leave your comments.

NEWS: Killzone Shadow Fall - 50GB Download

PlayStation 4 exclusive launch title Killzone Shadow Fall will be an enormous 50GB download for those who wish to purchase digitally. It's a good job the initial launch PS4 consoles will come equipped with a gigantic 500GB hard drive.

Think of things like this; if a launch title is 50GB, then how much space will it take to download a PS4 game in 2-4 years once the technology has developed even further? Definitely worth thinking about.

I imagine Sony will release a larger hard drive down the line like they did with the PlayStation 3. Sony recently announced a special bundle containing a copy of the game.

Check out the latest Killzone Shadow Fall gameplay and leave your comments regarding whether you'll buy the physical copy or go with the digital version.
