PREVIEW: Xbox One - Demonstration Video

A 12-minute long demonstration video shows off what the Xbox One has to offer and the experience its users can expect.

Xbox executives Yusuf Mehdi and Marc Whitten have performed a lengthy demo of the upcoming Xbox One, which launches later in the month. The video shows off the console's core features, amongst other functions.

Users will be able to customise the home page to suit their needs - a "pins" tab will enable you to place your favourite games, apps, movies, etc in a nice space catered to ease your accessibility to the content you most want to get to. No matter which Xbox One console you log into, your customized information and layouts will be remembered and automatically apply after logging in.

Voice-recognition is also shown, allowing users to voice certain actions which the console will then fulfill - examples shown were logging in and jumping straight into a paused game of Forza Motorsport 5. The 1080p Kinect sensor kit is needed to do such things, which will come with all Xbox One consoles.

Another selling point was the ability to watch live TV, all whilst still being able to accept game-invites if you want to stay in contact with your friends. The 'OneGuide' will let you watch TV with ease, allowing easy access to favourite TV shows, listings of current TV content, and finally app-related channels such as HuluPlus.

Popular communication outlet Skype will help Xbox One users to interact with each other, the view will alternate when a person (or animal) moves using the Kinect's ability to read skeletal frames to make sure the other receiver is getting the full shot.

Game DVR will let you record a recent piece of gameplay you might want to show off, which can then be edited in 'Upload' - the app will let you add commentary to that particular clip and pick a skin to personalise the content further. Check out the full demonstration video below.
