New trailer shows off gameplay of the upcoming Wolfenstein game, but more interestingly - a DOOM beta announcement.
Those who decide to pre-order Wolfenstein: The New Order are to gain exclusive access to the Doom beta, according to the latest trailer, which showcases various characters and glimpses into the game's narratives.
But it's the end of the video that comes as a bit of a suprise - considering we've heard practically nothing on the next Doom title, and then we're told a beta is to take place but with no actual date confirmed as of yet.
Apparently now known as just Doom instead of Doom 4, it's still to be confirmed whether the game will act as a sequel to Doom 3 or is a reboot of the original, which was released all the way back in 1993. [UPDATE: Bethesda has confirmed this will be the next chapter in the series]
Evidently, multiplayer is to play an important role in the game - more information can be seen on the official Wolfenstein website, which answers questions regarding how to gain access to the beta. Check out the mentioned trailer below.
Gamers who decide to play the game on Xbox One will require two monthly subscriptions.
Through a Q&A on the official US PlayStation blog, Zenimax Online Studios Game Director Matt Firor answered questions regarding subscription payments on console versions of the upcoming MMO game.
Firor said "A PlayStation Plus membership is not required to play The Elder Scrolls Online. PS4 players will only be required to pay the same monthly subscription associated with The Elder Scrolls Online that PC and Mac users will play -- nothing more."
On the other hand, when Bethesda spoke with Joystiq they confirmed the Xbox One release will require both an Xbox LIVE Gold account as well the standard subscription to play the game itself.
Bethesda's massive epic Skyrim has achieved an impressive milestone, deeming it one of the most successful games ever.
A recent post on the official Bethesda website highlighted special voice actors who are to use their talents in the upcoming Elder Scrolls Online such as John Cleese himself - however, at the foot of the article discusses how Skyrim has sold massive amounts of copies worldwide.
Bethesda praise the franchise's massive success, saying:
"The previous chapter in this franchise was The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim which was released in November 2011 and enjoyed worldwide critical and commercial success. As the sequel to the 2002 Role-Playing Game of the Year, The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, and the 2006 Game of the Year, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Skyrim earned hundreds of 'Game of the Year' awards and sold ofer 20 million copies."
In other Skyrim related news, a rumour was recently debunked regarding the game's release on next-gen consoles such as the PS4 and Xbox One - read more HERE.
Gamers were shocked recently with a possible release of Skyrim on both PS4 and Xbox One.
The Bethesda website recently listed the 2011 release; The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim as being available on the PS4 and Xbox One - however, PR and marketing vise president Pete Hines has fully debunked this possibility.
Hines said "a bug caused platforms that don't exist to show up for some games. Sorry for confusion."
In other Elder Scrolls news, Betheseda recently sent out beta invitations for their upcoming MMORPG; The Elder Scrolls Online. More here.
Blood? Check. Guts? Check. Gigantic man chasing you with a Chainsaw? Check. For the faint hearted? Definitely not.
More gameplay from Bethesda's upcoming horror The Evil Within has been released, with just under 12 minutes of footage, it's definitely worth checking out if you're planning on buying this game. I know I certainly am.
Judging from the beginning of the video, the game will be divided into different chapters, in this case the player can choose from two - Prologue or Perth House. Much of the gameplay shown has already been shown from E3 2013, so for the sake of what's new, I'll skip ahead to the extended parts of the video.
When the alarm goes off, the huge chainsaw-wielding maniac makes chase for Sebastian and eventually cuts into the flesh - I'm thinking there is an alternative way to progress through this particular part if the player doesn't set off the alarm.
With his leg in really bad shape, Sebastian still has to escape this horrific place - in true Metal Gear Solid 2 style, he hides in a locker and hopes he is not seen. This kind of thing never really works in horror movies, but it seems to in video-games.
Detective Sebastian Castellanos, lead character of The Evil Within.
The concept of escaping a murdering psychopath through the of hiding really reminds of the Clock Tower series, which I'm sure Bethesda got influence from.
Once the prologue gameplay is through, the video delves into the Perth House chapter, showing encounters with various monsters - the player burns the bodies once they have been killed, I assume if the bodies aren't burnt, they will re-animate at some point.
The monsters seen look like Zombies with a dose of Silent Hill - I know I keep mentioning other games, but many aspects so far instantly remind me of certain games.
Sebastian is bombarded with monsters as they come through the windows, so the player decides to use some Mine Traps - one of the many items available in the game, the idea being once the horde make their way into the building, the mines should take care of them. Should...
Towards the end of the video, Sebastian discovers the increasingly familiar multi-legged monster who I assume rips him apart judging from how the gameplay ends. Watch the video below and leave your comments.
